Electroforming

A dried fern, sealed with polyurethane and coated with graphite paint so it will conduct electricity.

Electroforming

The rectifier, which turns AC current into DC and allows setting amps and volts, is in the background. Also pictured is the glass jar, copper sulfate solution, copper wire, and the electrode wires.

Electroforming

The copper sulfate solution in the jar with positive and negative wires hooked up. The fern is suspended in the center.

A closeup of a fern suspended in the solution, being coated with copper.

Electroforming

A fern after it is coated with copper (after MANY hours), and polished. I applied a patina and then Renaissance wax.
